Minecraft cheats come in the form of modified clients (hacked clients) for Java Edition and separate loaders for Bedrock Edition. Features typically include killaura that attacks nearby players automatically within a configurable radius; crystal PvP automation for end crystal combat; reach extension for hitting players beyond the standard 3-block range; X-ray/cave finder that renders ores and tunnels through solid blocks; player and entity ESP; aimbot for bow combat; speed and flight for servers with weak anti-cheat; scaffold bot for automatic bridging; and inventory management automation. The feature set that's practical depends heavily on which server and anti-cheat you're playing against. Additional hacked client features include auto-totem (automatically switching a totem of undying to your offhand before lethal damage), TPAura for players using TP-linked armor, auto-soup for soup PvP gamemodes common on older 1.8 servers, and anti-knockback that reduces how far you get pushed during combat. For faction and SkyWars servers specifically, chest ESP filtered to show only valuables reduces the time spent looting before engagements and is one of the most practically useful features for competitive server play.

Server-side anti-cheats (NCP, Spartan, Matrix, Grim) analyse the packet data your client sends. Detection triggers include: movement at impossible speeds, hitting entities beyond 3 blocks, clicking at non-human rates, smooth rotation patterns that indicate aimbot, inventory changes happening faster than animation allows, and block interaction sequences that violate physics. Good hacked clients spoof packet data to stay within plausible ranges: reach capped at 3.1-3.2 blocks, CPS between 8-14, rotation with human-like acceleration curves rather than instant snaps. The more sophisticated modern anti-cheats like Grim check multiple data points simultaneously, requiring more careful configuration than older NCP-era clients needed.

Paper servers with anti-xray enabled send fake ore data to clients, meaning standard X-ray shows phantom ores at incorrect locations. Advanced X-ray modules handle this by analysing ore density and distribution patterns statistically, real ore clusters have different distribution characteristics than uniformly seeded fake ore. This doesn't give you a perfect X-ray view, but it filters out the obvious fake ore noise and gives a much better approximation of actual ore locations than a basic X-ray that shows everything indiscriminately. On Spigot servers without anti-xray, standard X-ray works with full effectiveness.

Crystal PvP uses End Crystals as weapons, placing a crystal on obsidian or bedrock and detonating it deals massive damage in a radius. Top players in crystal PvP achieve 8-12 placements per second through precise timing, making it one of the most mechanically demanding PvP formats. Manual crystal PvP takes hundreds of hours to reach a competitive level. Crystal automation handles placement, timing calculation, and detonation at configurable speeds, from a legit-looking 5-7 CPS up to full speed for servers with weak or no anti-cheat. Combined with crystal ESP that tracks enemy crystals and positions, automation at any speed level is a decisive advantage.

Hypixel runs Watchdog, their proprietary anti-cheat trained on billions of player sessions. It detects statistical outliers in movement, combat, and interaction data using behavioural models rather than simple signature checks. Working on Hypixel requires conservative settings specifically tuned against Watchdog's current model: reach kept exactly at 3.1 blocks (3.5+ triggers Watchdog reliably), killaura with legitimate-looking rotation speeds and slight miss variance, and no movement hacks at all (Watchdog's movement detection is its strongest component). Scaffold, inventory management, and ESP features are much less detectable than combat features and work more reliably on Hypixel long-term.

Java Edition cheats use modified clients. You run a different game launcher that injects extra code into the Minecraft client. This gives deep access to render pipelines, packet handling, and game logic, enabling the full feature set. Bedrock Edition (Windows 10/11 app, console, mobile) has a different code structure entirely and runs on platforms that don't support client modification the same way. Bedrock cheats typically use external injection tools or exploit-based approaches rather than modified clients, and the feature set is more limited than Java Edition. Most serious competitive PvP in Minecraft happens on Java, which is why the most developed cheat tooling exists for Java Edition.

Bedwars benefits most from reach extension (hitting players from slightly outside normal range is decisive in bed-breaking situations), killaura with entity filtering (auto-attacking only enemy players, not your own team), and speed for efficient bed defence coverage. Skywars prioritises combat features and auto-totem for survivability during contested mid-island fights. For Hypixel Bridge and similar fast-click PvP modes, the AutoClicker and CPS optimisation features matter most since these modes are decided by damage output frequency. Dream Client and similar Hypixel-optimised clients have built-in presets for these specific modes with settings already tuned to Watchdog's current detection thresholds for each game type.
