Apex has some of the most unpredictable target movement in any battle royale, Octane's stim sprint, Pathfinder's grapple swing, Horizon's gravity lift, and Valkyrie's VTOL all create non-linear movement paths that are genuinely difficult to track. The aimbot compensates through predictive tracking: it reads the target's current velocity vector from game memory and projects where they'll be at the moment of bullet impact, then applies lead compensation accordingly. This is more complex than tracking a player walking in a straight line, but a well-built Apex aimbot handles movement abilities specifically. Using a legend whose normal playstyle naturally results in moderate damage and conservative engagement patterns (Lifeline, Loba, Caustic) is easier to manage statistically than playing a high-aggression fraggers like Wraith or Horizon where high damage output is more heavily scrutinized.

Respawn issues HWID bans alongside account bans for confirmed cheaters. Your hardware fingerprints are logged and any new account created from the same machine is flagged on login. An HWID spoofer changes all the relevant hardware identifiers before Apex launches, making your machine appear completely new. The important step is installing and running the spoofer before creating the new account, if you create the account first and then spoof, the fingerprint from account creation may already be logged. The spoofer needs to be active every session because Respawn re-checks hardware on each login.

Apex cheats are PC software only. They don't run on consoles. However, in cross-play lobbies PC cheats work against all opponents regardless of whether they're on PC, PlayStation, or Xbox, since all opponent data is present in the PC client's game memory. Console HWID bans are handled by Sony/Microsoft's platform systems and aren't affected by PC Apex bans. A PC ban doesn't touch your console account or hardware, and vice versa.

To avoid it: keep stats gradual, don't jump from 0.5 K/D to 8 K/D in a week, avoid any third-party stat tracking sites that might flag outliers, and don't use the same account for both rage and legit sessions. If you suspect a shadow ban, creating a new account and checking if queue times normalize is the quickest diagnostic. Once in shadow ban lobbies, the monitoring period lasts 1-2 weeks before Respawn either permanently bans the account or lifts the soft ban. You cannot play your way out of a shadow ban. Respawn is observing rather than responding to your current behavior. Creating a fresh account with conservative settings is the only reliable way to escape the shadow ban lobby environment once you're in it.
