DayZ Anti-Cheat
Kernel BattlEye but with game bans rather than HWID, on a survival game where server admins do as much policing as the anti-cheat.
DayZ runs BattlEye at the kernel level, but the day-to-day reality of cheating in DayZ is shaped as much by server administrators as by the anti-cheat itself. On community servers, admins watch logs, review reports and kick or ban on suspicion, which makes blatant play risky regardless of what BattlEye catches.
On the ban side, DayZ leans toward game bans tied to the account rather than hardware blacklists, which keeps the stakes lower than the HWID-banning shooters - the cost is your character, your hours and that account. BattlEye provides kernel-level detection of injection and known cheats globally across official and many community servers. On top of that, individual community servers run their own admin tooling and review, so a second, human layer of enforcement applies. That two-layer model means discretion matters even when a build is technically undetected: an admin who notices a player snapping through walls can ban without BattlEye ever flagging anything. DayZ bans are generally game/account bans rather than HWID bans, so a new account on the same PC can usually play again - an HWID spoofer is rarely necessary for DayZ specifically. The loss is the character and the account standing. Community-server bans are separate and can be per-server, so getting banned from one server does not necessarily lock you out of all of DayZ. The flip side is that admins ban freely. We rate DayZ "Low" on raw anti-cheat detection - BattlEye is real but DayZ is not a flash-ban environment, and a lot of enforcement is human. That makes build quality and on-screen restraint the dominant factors. The fastest way to get banned in DayZ is not BattlEye - it is an admin or a reporting squad watching you do something no legitimate survivor could. Play quiet. The DayZ meta is information: player and zombie ESP, item and vehicle finders, and a restrained aimbot for the rare long-range fight. ESP that helps you avoid PvP is often more valuable than aim. Run a private build, respect that admins are watching, and keep cheated characters off accounts you would miss. The DayZ builds we keep current are below. How BattlEye works in DayZ
